ACP — A Crooked Path

Do you believe the long held saying and belief we are what we eat? Then do you also believe you are what you think? We are our minds, our hearts? Do you believe that we spend far more time and effort in our minds, our daily lives in thinking about our homes, our jobs, our vehicles, our clothing, our electronic devices, what is taking place in popular culture, politics and with our children than we do in thinking about, meditating on God, Jesus, spiritual matters and the Holy Scriptures?

Be ruthlessly objective and honest in all this.

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.

Isaiah 26:3 — English Standard Version

And he [Jesus] said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. his is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”

Matthew 22:3-40

So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin.

Romans 7:21-25 — English Standard Version

So none can claim excuse and misrepresent the words of Paul above to use them vainly thinking they are allowed everything in the flesh here are the words of the apostle Paul in writing to the Romans in context.

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

1 Peter 1:13 — King James Version

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 1:13 — English Standard Version

Here is Biblical truth, Biblical HISTORICAL FACT while also being prophetic and yet the hearts and minds of men and women professing to be disciples of Jesus Christ, profess to know and obey the Word of God corrupt, pervert and twist the Word of God to their pleasure in so many ways from this one passage into what they want to think rather than what is, and will be. They refuse to learn this, discern it wisely and spiritually, to believe it and to hold it within their hearts as truth. Even though the apostle Paul exhorts strongly in this very clearly. So plainly a child can easily discern and understand this — yet the majority of adults professing the Christian faith do not, cannot;

The Man of Lawlessness

Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered together to him, we ask you, brothers, not to be quickly shaken in mind or alarmed, either by a spirit or a spoken word, or a letter seeming to be from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work. Only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming. The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-12 — English Standard Version

First, we need to know the CONTEXT of who the apostle Paul is writing, why he is writing what he was, and what comes before and after, and in the context of the when.

The congregation of believers in Thessalonica were consumed, obsessed with debate on when the Day of the Lord was. Some believing it had already occurred, others thinking it was going to happen right then, others denying it would happen, and on and on it went. The entire second letter to the church at Thessalonica is about the Day of the Lord and His Second and only other return. The devil working in their midst creating strife, divisions and vain debate. So instead of allowing the church at Thessalonica to fall utterly apart at that time the Holy Spirit of God worked in Paul to write Biblical, historical truths, FACTS to the congregation at Thessalonica.

Paul is writing to these people, and to every reader of the Holy Bible thereafter, and every true genuine disciple of Jesus Christ’s indwelt of the Holy Spirit, renewed of mind and spirit ought to then discern wisely and well the words written from thence to hence. Yet the overwhelming majority do not. Because of what is within their minds, what they have allowed to be in their minds rather than the truth and the whole Word of God.

Paul exhorts the Thessalonians directly concerning the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ AND THEIR BEING GATHERED TOGETHER TO HIM to not be shaken in their minds, alarmed or taken away with something written or spoken NOT WITHIN THE WORD OF GOD, not be allow their minds to be shaken or removed from the truth of Scripture by any theories or unsound non-Biblical writings or speech regarding the ONE TIME RETURN of the Lord, for nowhere throughout the entire text of the Holy Bible does it ever say or even hint of Jesus Christ returning more than a SECOND TIME, nor one and a half more times, whereby He’s going to come sweep all the believers who can’t face suffering, trials, tribulations, the truth and the facts to spare them such. No. All the Scriptures are very clear. Exceedingly plain and clear. God in the form of Jesus Christ comes to earth twice and only twice. The first occurrence happened about 2,000 years ago and we just observed the end of His fleshly life here on earth, His death on the cross, and His resurrection the Third Day fulfilling Bible prophecy and the promise of God. Christ’s second and only other return is yet to happen. BUT NOT BEFORE — THE REBELLION COMES FIRST, THE MAN OF LAWLESSNESS IS REVEALED. NOT BEFORE — the Great Falling Away come first, the rise of the false teachers, the apostate church dominates and the remnant grows ever smaller, AND NOT BEFORE the man of lawlessness is revealed, not before the Antichrist is revealed. So right in the inerrant, divine Holy Spirit delivered, God-breathed Word of God in the very letter the heretics cite with their unsound doctrine deceiving many — even though the apostle Paul exhorts all believers to not listen to such and to not allow themselves to be deceived by any writings or words of any others — we learn, clearly, plainly when the Lord will return the second time. Exhorting further and could not be clearer — “Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.”

Not only isn’t the Lord returning for the second and only other time AFTER the man of lawlessness appears (the Antichrist), but that same man of lawlessness written of in Daniel, in Revelation and other parts of Scripture is going to oppose and exalt himself against EVERY SO-CALLED god OR OBJECT OF WORSHIP. Rather clear and sweeping is it not? Yet is this thought in the hearts and minds of the majority of those professing faith and belief in Jesus Christ? No, it isn’t. Why not? Because they prefer to fill their hearts and minds with vain teachings, carnal thoughts and doctrines, doctrines of pleasure and security and the lies of the Evil One filling the ears, eyes and minds of this entire world in his final vain quest to enslave as many as possible, get as many as possible to fall away and walk on the path of darkness leading to death, becoming part of the Great Falling Away, the rebellion of which Paul writes and exhorts those in Thessalonica.

Now, Paul then goes on to explain, make very clear further that they should know why this is;And you know what is restraining him now so that he may be revealed in his time. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

The power of Satan and his activity throughout the world to give the people of the world false signs and wonders. The power of that most powerful being ever created by God and Jesus, who turned to arrogance, pride and evil ego imagining himself greater and above his Creators! He captures and deceives those with the same arrogance, pride, evil egos, self-absorption, deceiving and lying to himself FIRST and thusly just as all the lost in darkness, all the falling away in rebellion DECEIVE THEMSELVES and tell themselves fables, lies, preferring the lies and fables to the truth with their itching ears.

Where’s the OBEDIENCE? No where to be found except in obeying pleasure, evil, lies, deception, the world and self. Where’s the DISCIPLINE? No where to be found at all. It’s all a free-for-all. Utter confusion and chaos which is the domain and mark of the Evil One. He is not only the father of lies but also the maker of chaos, confusion, mayhem and rebellion.

All of this? All of this is WHERE EACH PERSON SETS THEIR MIND. What each person ALLOWS TO ENTER THEIR MIND, LEAD THEIR MIND — their heart, their soul — and DOMINATE WITHIN THEM. What are their thoughts and where are those thoughts emanating from? And all thoughts can only originate in one of only two places. Either from God, Christ, the Holy Spirit and the inerrant living Word of Theirs — or from the world and what the world offers up endlessly to divert, corrupt, distract leading to following lies and leading only to death.

What do we allow in our minds? What do we fashion ourselves after? What do we permit? Who do we truly serve and obey? What are we each “eating” and “digesting” and “nourishing mentally, spiritually” our minds upon?

Remember that short sentence at the beginning of this following the first paragraph.

God knows our every thought. God knows our hearts and our minds — better than we know ourselves;

And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Genesis 6:5 — King James Version

Another example of the Spirit of God knowing every thought which is thought always and by everyone can be found in Ezekiel 11:5. And Daniel writes of the pride of mind and heart and what that leads to in Daniel 5:20 for just two examples.

Wisdom from the Spirit

Yet among the mature we do impart wisdom, although it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to pass away. But we impart a secret and hidden wisdom of God, which God decreed before the ages for our glory. None of the rulers of this age understood this, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But, as it is written,

“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard,
nor the heart of man imagined,
what God has prepared for those who love him”—

these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.

The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

1 Corinthians 2:6-16 — English Standard Version

There will be passages from the Holy Scriptures in this piece. Some of them, perhaps many of them more than one verse. Again, the CONTEXT of what proceeds, what comes after, to whom is vital. We ought not live our lives on bits and pieces, little easy to digest pleasing in taste and texture tidbits, snacks, or devotionals, but place on the plate before us the meat of the Word. It is my hope and prayer if reading this everyone will likewise read every word of Scripture contained herein and actually meditate more upon every one of those words than my always falling short words.

Christ’s Example of Humility

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Lights in the World

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.

Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me.

Philippians 2:1-18 — English Standard Version

Are we truly lights in the world? Or are we merely walking in the same carnal, worldly illumination casting the same shadows as those of the world not transformed of spirit and mind in the faith and truth of Jesus Christ the Lord?

I know I fall short in this daily. Do you?

We may know cunning and subtly and deception, learned from our youth, but let’s call things what they really are using the best words — we have learned how to lie early in our lives — to others and to ourselves. Let us put such aside and far away from us. Not just now. Always. For we are told plainly in God’s Word heaven is no place for those who lie — not only to others, but to themselves.

Bear with me in this because we are going to be discussing we are what we think. Make no mistake we are truly what we think and where we place our thoughts, our mind, our heart — and our mind is always thinking. Always. We nourish ourselves by the grace and provision of the blessings of God our Father (the Father of true believers of His Son, His spiritual children through their faith in Jesus Christ – NOT the Father of all as this world and far too many in the professed Christian church contend. Those believing God is the Father of all need to do exactly what this piece is written for. Transform their minds, transform their spirits, nourish themselves in the truth of the whole Scriptures and discipline themselves in the truth), a True Father that provides our daily needs. Some of us think too much and spend far too much time and effort in physical feeding of ourselves. We tend to place to much emphasis on carnal food, food that keeps the flesh, the body alive and working while we either neglect, turn to empty Life killing calorie intake in false teachings, or totally ignore the nourishment, the spiritual intake, the meditation upon God’s Word to guide us, lead us, instruct us, reprove us, uplift us, redirect us to the rightness of God and His ways, to rebuke, admonish and DISCIPLINE us.

Oh, there is one a word that has become one of the dirtiest thought and least used words in our time while other words of true filth have become commonplace and so overused.

Parents refuse to discipline their children.

Pastors, ministers and preachers refuse to discipline themselves — and their flocks they are entrusted to shepherd in the true, full, complete Word of God.

Fewer and fewer in our age accept and believe the Holy Scriptures, God’s authority and inerrancy.

Fewer and fewer, parents, pastors, those professing to be disciples of Jesus Christ the Lord accept God’s authority, the Bible’s authority, and the inerrancy of the whole Bible. I have mentioned in the past a dear sister, who I love dearly, and always will, being of like mind in most things yet there is one notable thing we are not of like mind. She admonished me, long ago now and in a good way I was being redundant and didn’t need to write in my work here on A Crooked Path that the Holy Bible is INERRANT. She contends that people knew that. Know that. I contend if that is so why is the Word of God then treated as it is in our age? Not by the world who walks in darkness, no, treated as if it is not the inerrant, living Word of God, in truth THE ONLY TRUTHFUL BOOK ON EARTH all of it by those claiming to be children of God? Disciples of Jesus? Christians!? With the majority in these times treating the Holy Scriptures like a restaurant menu, with them picking up and reading restaurant menus most likely more than they do the inerrant living Word of God!

The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked

Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

Psalm 1 — English Standard Version

Think long and hard, meditate upon why it is discipline has been cast aside? Why we have gravitated to appease, please the world, deny the whole inerrant Holy Bible, and be more concerned with being politically correct, carnal and concerned with feelings over substance? Now remember an earlier line in the beginning of this piece — Be ruthlessly objective and honest in all this. To deceive ourselves is futile because whether you believe it or not God, all-knowing, all-powerful, all-everywhere at all times God Who is Spirit KNOWS EVERY THOUGHT, KNOWS EVERY HEART AND MIND EVEN GREATER THAN EVERY INDIVIDUAL KNOWS THEIR OWN.

I strongly and lovingly urge everyone reading this to get ahold of a very good concordance and search the words “heart” and “mind” and read over those references. In context. Meditate upon them. Put them on and in your heart, in your mind. For there are far too many to reference in this one sitting and writing.

If we say we are Christians, we are believers doesn’t it stand to reason as true children of God, as true disciples of Jesus Christ why don’t we then desire to disappoint our Lord, our Father as much as possible? To please our Lord Who died for us in our place, to please our Father who by His grace and love alone and our belief and obedience we can go from eternal death to eternal life.

Kind of puts being more concerned with our homes, our jobs, our vehicles, what fashions we might have hanging in our closets and in our chest of drawers, our children (other than their spiritual welfare being uppermost in all things done for children, the right foundation and example given to them), doesn’t it?

I know many people devoting so much of their waking hours reading food labels, reading myriad food, health, disease and supplement information on the Internet, in books, on TV programs, and on and on endlessly. As it all changes like the shifting sands of every shoreline.

We spend so much time in this endeavor, KNOWING what we put into our mouths and digest, take into ourselves has some sort of impact upon our daily lives. Knowing some is good, some bad, some makes us feel better, some makes us feel awful.

Yet we do not spend nearly the same amount of time and effort, the same concern and care of what we FEED OUR MINDS AND HEARTS IN.

Why is this?

Well, I’ll tell you why this is. We are more easily pulled to self, to pleasure, to serving the world than we in serving God our Father and Jesus Christ the Lord, we find it much easier to allow the distractions of daily life to overtake than to overcome all this and DISCIPLINE ourselves in the ways and Word of the Lord. We gravitate to feelings, worldly feelings and fear of having to stand out — stand period and not blend in — than we are in pleasing God and Jesus Christ our Lord. If this were not so the percentages of time spent in worldly pursuits would be reversed from what they are. Is this not so? Remember that earlier line now repeated twice and now should be remembered.

Each of us needs to be truly transformed. Renewed of mind and spirit by the power of the Spirit of God — the Holy Spirit. Each of us must as in Psalm 1 from above KNOW and LIVE DAILY, CONTINUALLY in; “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. (verses 1-3 of Psalm 1)

Our minds, what is in our hearts, is ongoing. Only stops when we have exhaled our last breath, our physical hearts have pulsed their last flow of blood through our fleshly bodies. Therefore, we either are walking in the counsel of the wicked, standing in the way of sinners, sitting in the seat of scoffers — allowing worldly ideologies, teachings, sayings, beliefs, ways in our hearts and minds rather than the wisdom and Word of God…

we take our pleasure not in the world and its ways, but in the law, the Word, the ways, the teachings of the Lord and on His Word — ALL OF IT — we meditate day and night.

We don’t merely profess belief in Jesus Christ the Lord, or God with our lips and then devour the worlds empty calories and become obese while also malnourished in its ways which lead not just to an early death, but eternal death.

As I’ve written and said countless times — the Evil One, Satan doesn’t only believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and knows exactly Who Jesus is. Yet the devils belief and knowledge that Jesus is the Christ, that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God is not going to save the devil and permit him to enter heaven. Why then should a mere person who only believes but does not obey nor apply nor show transformation in their lives enter into the Kingdom of God? The devil KNOWS this, knows all about God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit yet rebels — lest we forget Lucifer spent we know not how many years, how many eons in heaven with God, with Jesus, with the Holy Spirit prior to his rebellion and being booted out of heaven with all his fallen angels to take up residence on this earth where he has dominion for a season — yet deceives himself thinking he will still somehow outfox, out maneuver God and Jesus due to the Evil One’s arrogance, pride, self-absorption, and refusal to submit and obey. Satan thinks he knows better than God and Jesus Christ. It’s why he was booted out of heaven after being made the most beautiful and most powerful creation of God and Jesus Christ the Lord Who made all things. God and Jesus, who are eternal and without beginning and without end, and were never created, They create Lucifer, who then imagines himself greater than his Creators.

Ring any bells? Remind anyone of anyone else? How about from the beginning? Adam and Even throughout all the ages to our own and the vast majority of men and women believing they do not need God nor Jesus and are greater than Both and know more than Both and live in denial and disobedience to Both?

It is about more than belief — it is also about submitting and OBEDIENCE. Obeying the Word of God. ALL of it. Not turning the Holy Bible into some defiled earthly grocery store or restaurant where we only  traverse certain aisles, or we only select certain menu items which please our palettes and our deadly tongues not thinking about complete nourishment of the body.

Discipline is not a dirty word although treated as such and nearly removed from not only the English language but from modern-day life. Discipline is now treated as a disease, and the disease of gluttony of false teachings, worldly doctrines, carnal instruction, ways, and philosophies treated as the life-giving nourishment to fortify and keep people alive.

Fools. So many foolish walking in complete darkness. The walking dead. No wonder zombie and occult themes, books, films, music and all other corrupted rot such as those have become so dominant and popular in pop culture — because so many can relate to being the walking dead — as they delude themselves they are becoming more enlightened and this world is heading to some manmade, woman made Utopia, man and woman thinking themselves gods while they remove and deny the One True God, deny and remove or belittle and reduce the One True Way, the One True Saviour, the One Way To Eternal Life And True Illumination — Jesus Christ the Lord, and they either spit upon, denounce, scoff at, or utterly omit, corrupt, alter and pervert the inerrant living Word of God to suit their tastes, their palettes for the lies which lead to death, which only lead to death — the second death.

Do you believe you are what you eat?

Do you believe we are what we think?

Then what are we thinking about most? What is in our hearts most dear ones?

And remember than line written twice and now mentioned for the fifth and final time…unless ruthlessly objective and honest with ourselves? How are we to then present ourselves before the Lord our God? As obedient servants of His? in obedience? In discipline of mind, spirit, and body? Or as deceivers? Liars? The former will enter the Kingdom of God. The latter will not. No matter how often the latter went to church, no matter what kind of crucifix they wore around their necks, no matter their works vainly imagining themselves “good” and “moral” and “upright” people “deserving of heaven.”

Without purity of heart and mind. Without submitting to the Lord, obeying the Lord, making Jesus not only Saviour but Lord of our lives, without constant monitoring, editing, control — DISCIPLINE of what we allow to enter our mind, our hearts?

Well…I think you ought to know by now shouldn’t you? Not according to my feeble words — but according to the inerrant living Word of God.

If not sure? Why not go to the Holy Scriptures? Before opening the only book of truth on earth pray in humble sincerity to God that He becomes Father of your life, that Jesus becomes not only Saviour of your spirit and soul, but Lord of your life, and that you ask in faith for the Holy Spirit to measure out to you overflowing spiritual discernment, spiritual wisdom, spiritual knowledge contained within the Holy Scriptures. Then apply those wondrous gift, apply those gifts of spiritual wisdom, discernment and salvation continually, daily, always in all things as long as God the Father blesses with each breath, each heartbeat, each thought within our hearts and minds.
